2011 Inductees

Bronze/Stephen Page – in 1978, “Bronze earned the USDF Bronce – the first Oregon horse to do so. In 1981, he won the coveted one single high percentage award given in the nation to national placins at Second and Third levels. He died in 1991.

Galileo/Estelle Keating Thompson – the first Oregon pair to achieve Grand Prix in 1985. They were a popular demo team at other equine events.

Excalibur/Mary Ann Judkins -the second Oregon pair to achieve Grand Prix. In 1990, ODS established the Excalibur Freestyle Award in “Mon-Kee’s” honor. In 1993, the Mary Ann Judkins Instructor award was initiated.

Joyful/Cary Evans – a track reject who went through the levels to Intermediare I, where she ranked 5th nationally. Her daughter “Enjoy” and Cary performed their Century Ride in 2006 – being the first woman in the Northwest to qualify for the Dressage Foundation’s prestigious “Century Club.” Cary is the 34th achiever in the US. Joyful died in 1994.

Trail Bender/Winnie Heiney-Duncan – “Bender” loved riding to Rag Times tunes in Third Level freestyles. In 2007, at the age of 25, Bender and Winnie (then 76) joined the elite Dressage Foundation’s “Century Club” which numbered 45 after their addition.

E.F.M. Desperado/Kathy Casey, rider/Jim and Laura Smith, owners – this was a small horse with a big heart. He placed first in USDF All Breeds in Prix St. Georges, Intermediare I Musical Freestyle, Intermediare II and Grand Prix, plus rode to a hoset of ODS Championships. He died in 2011 at the age of 25.

Chex In The Mail/Marsha Williams – he went through the USDF levels to Fourth; after retirement, he served as a schoolmaster and as a Healing Reins hippotherapy horse. He was 26 years old at the date of nomination.

Lexington/Caitlin Wisboski – he changed careers in 2005, leaving the eventing world to become a dressage schoolmaster. He has taken Caitlin and two other young riders up the levels to Fourth and each achieved the USDF Bronze Medal. He was 24 years old at the date of nomination.

Star Struck/John Craven – “Bill” competed through Intermediare I prior to pairing with John. They earned the USDF Bronze medal. He was a generous schoolmaster who taught not only his riders, but many ODS members in teh gallery at clinics and expositions. Bill died in 2011.
