ODS REGIONS & CHAPTERS
This organization was formed in 1971. You may be a General Member or join a Chapter.
Oregon is divided into four regions. They are:
Each Region has two Regional Directors who represent their region and give input into state and national decisions and policies.
Benefits to an Individual joining a Chapter:
- You may join a Chapter or change Chapters at any time, simply notify the ODS Office. There is no additional cost to join a Chapter.
- Local connections, local newsletters and local members clinics, shows and seminars.
- Opportunity to become involved in your local Dressage Community without the committment of statewide responsibilities.

Special Benefits Available to a Chapter:
- Central ODS Office providing support for your chapter activities, such as e-mail alerts, website postings, help in applying for insurance, etc.
- Chapter Event Insurance: ODS Members at ODS only member activities are covered by insurance with no fee, and open shows or activities are covered for $43.00 per day for clinics or $51.00 per day for shows. Limitations may apply and applications must be recevied 6 weeks in advance - please contact the ODS Office or see the show and clinic management page for specific details.
- Computerized database means chapters can have access to labels and up to date printouts of membership anytime they are requested from the ODS Office. We request 10 days advance notice on printout and label requests.
- Finances - chapters use the ODS Federal Tax ID, and although Chapters keep their finances separate from the ODS accounts, ODS volunteers prepare financial and tax statements.
- ODS Loans to Chapters - Chapters may apply for grants or loans from ODS to cover unusual financial needs. See the ODS Handbook or contact the ODS Office for details.
- ODS Connie J Keith Adult Amateur Camps - Connie J Keith funds are available for no more than three adult camps per year. Applications for the following years camps are approved at the November board meeting. See your ODS Handbook or call the ODS office for details.
- ODS Publications, including the ODS Regional Omnibus, which takes the place of prize lists that were mailed by each chapter in the past.
- ODS Handbook for chapter officers - with hints on forming a chapter, fund raisers, educational activities, ODS procedures, show suggestions, as well as, detailed descriptions of all state positions, contracts, procedures, etc.
- ODS is a registered non-profit educational organization, which means anyone who contributes money to ODS or it's chapters may be eligible for a contribution deduction on their tax return.
- ODS approved shows have qualified judges and our show calendar prevents date conflicts.
- Each Region has two Regional Directors who represent their region and give input into state and national decisions and policies. Chapters are encouraged to involve their regional representative, or to provide a representative to the region to ensure communication between chapters and the ODS Board.
- Nonprofit bulk mailing permit also allows us to mail clinic and show notices at a reduced rate (must have minimum or 200 pieces and follow proper procedure). Contact the ODS office for details.
